Copyright to Music

After reading this article I did not realize all the complications of using a song in anything such as a project or just if it's playing in your restaurant or even an elevator. Now I understand why they do play such cruddy music, because it costs A LOT of money to play good music! I recently made a scholarship video for my friend and we couldn't even use the music that is already on iMovie for it. I've also made YouTube videos that have popular music on them so hopefully I won't get in trouble for that and I'm definitely going to be more careful in the future.

Worked Cited Project

For my three bibliography makers I used Son of Citation, Bibliography Machine, and KnightCite Citation Service. All of them were very similar but Son of Citation looked the most professional. I didn't know these kind of cites existed. I will definitely be using them at college!

Reaction to Internet Revolution Video

This internet revolution video was a very interesting video. It examined all of the main areas of the internet and how they have shaped the world today. The most interesting part, I thought, was how they compared the 60s and 70s social movement to why people use the internet today. It's true, that most people use the internet to not only communicate, but spread and share ideas and thoughts that they otherwise would be afraid or just unable to without the web. I agree with all of the closing statements at the end of the video, that the web is a revolution and play a huge part of society today. On the other hand, the world wide web is neither good, nor bad, it is only a useful tool that can be used at the expense of yourself.

Privacy on the Internet

Pretty much everyone has a Facebook these days, and if you don't, congratulations because you do not have to worry about people you do not know looking at your life. Life as in, photos, posts, comments and things that you like and don't like. Facebook's privacy policy is way to long so no one really reads it. I haven't even read it myself. Now that I have watched that Facebook video I am going to read and I am going to make sure all my privacy settings are just the way I want them. Business and companies are always going to see what your doing on the internet, for business purposes (or supposedly,) but if you take the time, you have control over what PEOPLE can or cannot see your stuff.

Google Drive's Privacy Policy

Unfortunately, Google drive's privacy policy is fairly similar to already established programs such as Drop box, SkyDrive, and iCloud. Ever since Google has  made a privacy policy a few months back that was an "all encompassing privacy policy for all services," concerns have been rising. Google Drive is under this policy. This policy basically says that yes, you can put your information together and share it, but Google has the right to look at and distribute it for service purposes as well. If I were using Google Drive I know I wouldn't want people seeing my work and personal stuff I put on there for myself. Although the other programs don't get as much scrutiny as Google, they are just as scary in the same ways. So if you do not want to give companies like Apple, Google and Microsoft, don't sign up.

Pinterest, Binder and Evernote.

Pinterest, Binder and Evernote are all sites that anyone could use to pull together information for work or school, or just for yourself for fun. I would use Binder mainly for a school project because it's just like putting together all information on one subject into one place. Evernote is more of a personal information holder, it can be used for work and school as well, but it is more of a notepad to help you remember things. I probably wouldn't use Evernote as much, maybe when I get a serious job or something. Pinterest is something I've always been interested in (although I just now got a profile for it.) It's like your own personal board of pictures that you like and want to share. Even if you don't have a profile it is still extremely fun and entertaining to look at. It also has a lot of creative and fun ideas for crafts and other various hobbies. Out of the three, I would most likely use Pinterest the most.

An expected Tech Job increase of 22% !

The article I read says that there will be a Tech Job growth of 22% through 2020. This does not surprise me since Technological Advances an Technology use as a whole is increasing at high rates even as you read this. This may put a lot of people out of jobs that don't require any technical skills, but at the same time, creating more computer jobs. I'm lucky because I plan on working with computers through college and after college, so hopefully I'll be ahead of the game.

TVs and Computers Combined?

This article talks about new "Smart TVs" that may be taking over not only the regular TV, but possibly the computer as well.  It includes a webcam, a dual-core processor and voice recognition so you dont have to use a remote.  The quality of the TV has full HD and 3D capabilities which makes watching TV a whole new experience.  This product does not surprise me because even now anyone could watch a movie or TV epesode on a regular computer.  It is fairly expenisive, but hey, two for one.

Thoughts about Footprint Presentations

What interested me the most between all the presentations was definitely the new Google privacy policy. If someone has any kind of g-mail, YouTube or Google related account, then they automatically have to watch out what they are searching for on the internet. I know sometimes people are just curious about random things and would probably be embarrassed if another person was monitoring them. As for the rest of the digital footprint "no-nos," it is going to be unbelievably hard for almost anyone who is on the internet to be completely safe.  Good luck everyone!

Response to the Digital Footprint Videos

Well, after watching a few of the Digital Footprint videos I am a little scared. Anyone can basically steal anyone's identity. I've been aware that skilled hackers were able to do this before, but now it seems as though it has become easy enough for anyone to do it. As for the content that people are willing to put on the internet (such as Facebook statuses and pictures,) I believe it is entirely up to that person. They know others are going to see it and if they get in trouble, they shouldn't be surprised.

Education Technology: Schools that Cannot Afford

This article from the Huffington Post talks about disadvantages from a rising number of schools who cannot afford the technology needed for education. Some schools can only afford up to 24 computers per thousand students. I can relate to this article because when I was younger I attended very small schools with a limited amount of computers (these computers where not up to date either.) When I came to Anderson County I was blown away from all the technology and how much we had to use it, it was all new to me. It makes me wonder how much more I would of know before if my old schools had the same amount of technology. I also believe that if poor schools such as the ones in the article don't update or get more computers soon, they will be unable to function efficiently just as other schools can.

What I have learned so far in 21st Cent. Skills.

So far in this class I have had the opportunity of making several different accounts in various programs such as diigo, blogger, iGoogle and Wiki. Everything right now is still kind of confusing, especially diigo. There are so many things you can do on each account I still havent figured everything out...Along with all the accounts I'm slowly learning how to stay organized on the web and what websites I should visit and/or not visit. The funnest thing I think we've done so far is create a blog and make a presentation. Haha stay away from porn. :)

Response to Digital Nation

It was hard to take in all that was in the documentary about our "Digital Nation." Staring at this computer screen right now has got me thinking that our world that we use to know is now becoming a place that is not real at all. I wonder what would happen when every single person in the world becomes consumed in this never ending phenomenon of technology. How would people survive if it was suddenly taken away? People my age see technology and the immense advances in computers and gaming a great thing, to make things easier, to make things faster. Others, such as the generation above us, see it as a bad thing that has the ability to turn us into cyber zombies that do not know how to truly live. My final thought is this, who am I going to be in 5 years after spending much more time on the computer than I ever have?
